FAQ
Below are some of the frequently asked questions relating to Cinematic Ensemble, tickets and our shows.
By using the knowledge from film scoring of composer and musical director, Phil Mountford, combined with talented musicians to specifically perform these parts, including vocals, electronics and synthesisers, Cinematic Ensemble is able to reproduce such authenticity in their performances, creating textures and soundscapes much closer to the real movie soundtracks.
Paying incredible attention to the original scores and reproducing them in an intimate style using talented and versatile instrumentalists, focusing on the detail that many ignore. Being led by a film composer who understands how contemporary movie scores are created and with a string section being led by an incredibly capable cellist who has performed in many film scores certainly helps.
The number of musicians in the Cinemtaic Ensemble is dependant on the music program being performed. For The Greatest Music of Hans Zimmer show, there are 6 musicains spread across multiple acoustic and electronic instruments including Cello, Violin, Woodwind, Guitar, Voice and Synths/Keyboards.

No, definitely not! Cinematic Ensemble are an ensemble formed specifically to perform movie music, created by a film composer. Balancing musical intimacy with arrangements designed to capture the sound of the original film, wherever possible, enhanced using sound generating techniques used in creating film scores.
We believe our audiences are interested in the sound which is why Cinematic Ensemble are focusing all of their energy in the performance, rather than using fake candles, to provide an atmosphere. The shows are purely about experiencing the music, performed to a high standard by a dedicated ensemble and creating an intimate experience being up close to the musicians performing.
